Women, Education and Work
From a research study: women decide to enroll in University based on market context. There is a big difference compared to men.
The paper "On the determinants of female university enrolment in Europe" demonstrates a theory of how features of the job market can influence the choice of starting university education. In addition, the study empirically shows how these features have a significant impact on the choice of enrolling in university for women but not for men.
The study was carried out by Alessandra Casarico, Paola Profeta and Chiara Pronzato, Associate Professor of Finance and Associate at the Bocconi Dondena Center (Casarico and Profeta); Università di Torino and Dondena Center (Pronzato) respectively.
Theoretical and empirical studies focusing on several features of the job market, such as the possibility of working, reconciling work and family, having a career, choices in education, and how the influence of these variables may differ by gender do not yet exist.
