1 ) Wednesday 22 February, 7-8pm

“Working with the Government: The floor goes to the stakeholders” (in Italian)

The Public Administration is a complex market due to a series of peculiarities that distinguish it from other markets. One reason for complexity certainly lies in the various outlooks that businesses and public administrations have regarding methods of action in this market. What are these various outlooks? What myths and prejudices often characterize operators in the market? And what are the possible evolutions of the market, given these outlooks?

Professor Manuela BRUSONI and Ms Veronica VECCHI, Senior Faculty Members at the Public Management and Policy Department at SDA Bocconi will focus on these issues when interviewing Mr Stefano DEL MISSIER, Central Director of Organization, Personnel, Property and IT of the Lombardy Region, Mr Paolo MORONI of CONFAPI and Mr Carlo CERAMI, member of the Simplification Observatory at the Milan Chamber of Commerce.

The communication sector is going through a stage of great change. The evolution of communication technologies, the emergence of new media and the birth and development of new players are radically changing the structural and competitive configuration of the sector. How is the communication industry changing in Italy compared to the rest of the world? How are market strategies and actions of industry operators changing, both in terms of customers and in terms of communication service providers? How are sources of income for industry operators changing?

Professor Maria Carmela OSTILLIO, Senior Faculty Member in the SDA Bocconi Marketing Department, will discuss this issue with Mr Massimo COSTA, President and CEO of Young & Rubicam Brands, Country Manager at WPP, and President of Assocomunicazione.

“Creating competitive advantage in mature industries through innovation”
(This webinar will be held in English)

It is a widespread belief that innovation is one of the most effective strategies to gain a competitive advantage in mature markets. Besides this belief, evidence says that real innovation is a rare phenomenon in most mature markets. The easiest explanation is that innovation is risky and requires huge investments. But is it really the case? Aren’t there other barriers that pertain more to the organizational culture, design and processes? Are some organizations better equipped to generate innovations in mature markets besides the amount of the investments they can afford?

Professor Mikkel DRAEBYE, Senior Professor of the Strategic and Entrepreneurial Management Area of SDA Bocconi School of Management, will debate these topics with Mr. Giuseppe GENELETTI, Director of Corporate Communications and Learning and Development, EMEA, Whirlpool.

“Continuous innovation and the ambidextrous organization”

Companies that are able to generate a continuous innovation flow are able to survive prosperously in markets where competition is fierce. Continuous innovation requires specific capabilities which makes those companies quite distinct from companies that are not able to nurture their innovation pipeline. Recent management research shows that innovative companies are often ambidextrous organizations. What is an ambidextrous organization? Which capabilities distinguish these organizations from organizations that are not continuously innovative? How can a company become ambidextrous?

Prof. Gianmario VERONA, Senior Professor of the Marketing Area of SDA Bocconi School of Management, will discuss these topics by presenting results of recent academic and managerial researches.

This webinar will be held in English.
